Rothenburg ob der Tauber, founded in the late 10th century, is a medieval town renowned for its remarkably well-preserved historic architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and intact city walls that offer an authentic glimpse into medieval life. Growing significantly during the Middle Ages as a Free Imperial City of the Holy Roman Empire, it flourished through trade and craftsmanship between the 13th and 16th centuries, during which it was fortified with impressive walls and towers.
