Hohenschwangau Castle was originally built in the 12th century and later rebuilt in the 19th century by King Maximilian II of Bavaria as a royal residence.
Neuschwanstein Castle was commissioned by his son, King Ludwig II, in the late 19th century as a romanticized revival of medieval architecture, intended as a private retreat and homage to composer Richard Wagner. Both castles are located in Bavaria, Germany, and are famous for their picturesque beauty and historical significance.
The blue appearance is due to several factors: the snow and ice on the mountains reflect sunlight, giving a blue tint; orographic clouds formed by mountains can look blue due to their interaction with light; and specific weather conditions—clear skies combined with warm temperatures—enhance the blue sky effect. Together, these elements create the striking blue hues often seen in Alpine photographs, adding to the landscape's visual appeal.
